Empowering State Leaders and Coaches through GuideWork™ ensuring continuous development, played a pivotal role during a six-month hybrid Team Leadership Program.

Introduction

Achieving Breakthrough Results

In a concerted effort to elevate leadership capabilities across government sectors, a prominent State Agency partnered with several peer agencies to launch the State Leadership Series. This initiative delivered comprehensive, multi-faceted adult learning programs meticulously designed to cultivate and refine essential leadership skills.

Recognizing the need for expert guidance, they engaged us to enriched the curriculum for our proven international expertise in GuideWork™ coaching and our background in Human & organizational dynamics, ensuring a robust coaching process for meaningful growth.

Supporting Priorities

The program’s content emerged from a cooperative dialogue among the participating state agencies, who served as the Program Owners. This alignment guaranteed that the series directly supported overarching agency priorities, fostering sustainable development.

A standout innovation within the series was the introduction of the Team Leadership Program—a six-month hybrid initiative tailored for approximately 40 participants. This dynamic program integrated diverse elements, such as interactive classroom sessions, hands-on action learning assignments, collaborative small-group discussions, active involvement from sponsoring managers, and rigorous measurement of results to track progress and efficacy.

At its core, the Leadership Series aimed to deliver high-impact outcomes, including breakthroughs in individual leadership effectiveness, enhanced customer engagement, and elevated employee satisfaction.

Key contributions

As an expert in coaching and human & organizational dynamics,  Peter played a pivotal role in leading, managing, empowering, guiding, and supervising the cohort coaches, including those appointed within the state. Peter’s oversight ensured program cohesiveness, maintaining alignment and quality across all coaching efforts. By fostering a professional culture of continuous development through facilitated supervision sessions, Peter created an environment where coaches thrived and evolved.

The Results

1. Led the orientation process for all coaches to establish a strong foundational understanding.

2. Reviewed and refined the four key deliverables expected from participants to uphold program standards.

3. Educated coaches on intervision as an effective method for adult learning and peer collaboration.

4. Introduced supervision as a cornerstone for ongoing professional growth.

5. Acted as supervisor facilitating individual and group supervision sessions to support continuous development.

6. Ensured the overall quality of the coaching processes by safeguarding proven methodologies.

Looking Back

Reflecting on this collaboration, it was a privilege to implement proven theories and methods that inspired emerging coaches to become serious reflective practitioners. Through this guidance, they gained the tools to empower others, unlocking their full potential and driving lasting organizational impact.

Integrating proven adults learning theories and methods into the State Leadership Series was a testament to the power of strategic partnerships in cultivating exceptional leaders for public service.
